How to Live Healthy When You Have a Busy Schedule

We all have busy schedules.

But if you don’t take the time out and make the effort to focus on your own health, you’ll regret it later. Not because you’ll have wasted a long portion of your life just feeling tired, but because you’d have done it knowing that you could do better.

Easier Said than Done?

Yes, it is. But there’s a caveat.

Healthy living and healthy eating can only be done if you have someone to guide you. And in your case, that’s us!

Have a Morning Routine

There’s nothing worse than rushing to get ready because you’re already late for work. Every morning, try to wake up at least an hour before you’re meant to leave the house. This’ll give you enough time to get ready and have breakfast, which brings us to…

Don’t Skip Breakfast, At Any Cost

From moodiness and weight gain to causing obesity and even diabetes, skipping breakfast can cause a lot of health problems over time. Rather than skipping breakfast and just having coffee or tea to wake you up, try some healthy breakfast recipes and put them together the night before, so you don’t have to run around in the kitchen in the morning.

Don’t Eat at Your Desk

Despite your great multitasking skills, we still don’t recommend that you eat and work. Not only because you won’t be able to savor your food as much, but also because munching on your lunch while you work on that proposal might just cause you to eat more than you need, and that’ll lead to weight gain.

Pay Attention to Your Snacks

Cookies, chips, or the occasional burrito from Taco Bell — you have plenty of options to snack on. But not all of them are healthy or fulfilling. Instead of satisfying your hunger with family size snacks and sodas, bring some fruits with you every day, or some homemade granola. Can’t be bothered to try? Keep some dry fruits on your table to occasionally munch on.

Drink Water

Keep a one-liter water bottle at your desk and make it your mission to finish it at least twice before the work day is over. It’s an ambitious goal. But if you think about it, there are plenty of health issues that can easily be fixed if you keep yourself hydrated, like headaches, constipation, coughs and sore throats, metabolic issues, bladder problems, etc.

Try Cooking at Home

This’ll give your wallet some rest as well! While eating out might seem like a more tempting option in comparison to cooking, keep in mind that most restaurant meals will not give you as much nutrition as you originally need. Follow some easy dinner recipes and rope in your friends or partner as well to make it a party.

Note: if you to eat out, try choosing some grilled options instead of fried, healthier mains and desserts rather than calorie-laden treats.
